The Association
Founded in 2013 in the Municipality of San Giuliano Terme, theFanny Mendelssohn Association positions itself as a promoter of a refined dialogue between music, art, and territory. Its activities are framed within a broad and interdisciplinary cultural vision, with particular attention to the dissemination of high-profile music.
At the center of its activities stands the International Fanny Mendelssohn Music Festival, a springtime event that, since its first edition, has welcomed musicians from international backgrounds, confirming the cosmopolitan vocation that permeates its identity.
The Festival revolves around the theme La Musica e i Luoghi [Music and Places], which underscores the intent to enhance the historical-artistic heritage of the territory. Historic residences, villas, museums, ancient palaces, and parish churches transform into true “theaters of place,” offering evocative and memory-laden settings for an immersive experience that weaves together the arts:
Carefully selected musical programs designed to dialogue with the hosting environment
Historical-artistic insights that restore narrative dignity to the venues
Exhibitory paths and interdisciplinary interventions that complete the cultural experience
The result is an aesthetic and intellectual itinerary where music becomes the privileged channel for rediscovering the territory, in a balance between contemplation and knowledge.
The naming of the association after Fanny Mendelssohn (1805–1847), a composer and pianist of extraordinary talent, is intended as both a symbolic and programmatic gesture: to pay homage to a cultured and visionary figure whose music overcame cultural and historical barriers. In this spirit, the association aims to break down the boundaries of prejudice and affirm the universality of music, valuing every authentic form of artistic expression.
